Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 12, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Velyo ("Velyo", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, discloses, and safeguards your information when you use our cycling social platform, including our mobile application and related services (collectively, the "Service"). Please read this policy carefully. By using the Service, you acknowledge that you have read and understood the practices described here.
1. Introduction
Velyo is a cycling social platform designed for cycling enthusiasts. The Service allows you to record cycling journeys, join interest-based clubs, interact with other riders through text and video, and share updates within a community. This policy applies to all users of the Service and describes the categories of information we process and the choices you have.
If you do not agree with this policy, please discontinue use of the Service. Where required by applicable law, we will obtain your consent before processing certain categories of information.
2. Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of information:
Information you provide. Account details such as your display name, email address, and profile information; content you create such as posts, comments, photos, club activity, and messages; and the information you submit when you contact support or send feedback.
Cycling activity data. Route, distance, speed, duration, elevation, and related ride metrics that you choose to record, including data synced from compatible cycling equipment and sensors you connect.
Device and technical data. Device model, operating system, app version, language settings, identifiers, and diagnostic or crash information used to keep the Service reliable.
Usage data. How you interact with features, pages viewed, and actions taken, which helps us understand and improve the Service.
We do not request or require sensitive financial details to use the core Service, and we do not ask you to share more information than is reasonably necessary to provide the features you use.
3. How We Use Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain the Service and its features.
- Create and manage your account and profile.
- Record, display, and let you review your cycling journeys and related metrics.
- Enable clubs, community sharing, messaging, and video interactions.
- Respond to your support requests, messages, and feedback.
- Personalize content and improve the relevance of your experience.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and improve performance, stability, and safety.
- Detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, or violations of our terms.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our agreements.
4. Legal Bases for Processing
Where applicable law requires a legal basis, we rely on one or more of the following: your consent; the performance of a contract with you; our legitimate interests in operating, securing, and improving the Service in a way that does not override your rights; and compliance with legal obligations. You may withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent.
6. Location & Cycling Data
Recording a cycling journey may involve collecting precise location information to map your route and calculate ride metrics. Location collection occurs when you use recording features, and you can manage location permissions through your device settings at any time. Disabling location may limit certain features, such as route tracking.
You control what cycling data and activity you choose to share with clubs or the community. You can keep activities private, share them with selected groups, or remove them.
7. Messages, Calls & Community Content
The Service supports text chat, video calls, and community posts. Content you share with other users may be stored to deliver and display it. Please be mindful of the information you choose to share publicly or with others. You are responsible for the content you post, and you should not share content that is unlawful or infringes the rights of others.
We provide tools to report or block content and users. Reports help us keep the community safe and may be reviewed by our team.
9. Data Retention
We retain information for as long as necessary to provide the Service, fulfill the purposes described in this policy, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When information is no longer needed, we take reasonable steps to delete or anonymize it. You may request deletion of your account and associated content as described below.
10. Data Security
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or alteration. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. We encourage you to use a strong password and to protect access to your device and account.
11. Your Rights & Choices
Depending on your location, you may have rights regarding your information, including the right to access, correct, update, or delete it; to object to or restrict certain processing; to withdraw consent; and to request a copy of certain information. You can manage much of your information directly in the app, including editing your profile and managing the content you share.
To exercise your rights, you can contact us using the details in the "Contact Us" section. We will respond in accordance with applicable law. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a relevant data protection authority.
12. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect information from children where prohibited by law. If you believe a child has provided us with information without appropriate consent, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
13. International Data Transfers
Your information may be processed and stored in locations outside of your country or region. Where we transfer information across borders, we take steps to ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place consistent with applicable law.
14. Third-Party Services & Links
The Service may integrate with or link to third-party services, such as compatible cycling equipment or external platforms you choose to connect. Those services are governed by their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for their practices. We encourage you to review the policies of any third party before using it.
15. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Your continued use of the Service after an update indicates your acceptance of the revised policy.
